HOW MUCH $5
WHEN Wednesday, Nov. 24, 9 p.m.
Those driving down on Ontario Street in the city of Canandaigua may have noticed some activity in the old train station at the corner of Pleasant Street. Built in 1890, the former station will become Freedom Station, a Latin-flavored nightclub owned and operated by Camilla VanderLinden, Alberto Tabares and Jose Ruiz.
With a grand opening set for Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, normal club operating days will be from Thursday to Sunday starting at 9 p.m., with a $5 cover charge. Each night will feature a different DJ, but in the coming weeks, Freedom Station will offer dance lessons several times a week before opening hours.
Not targeting any specific age group or audience at this point, VanderLinden says she hopes the community will come check out the nightclub and provide continuous feedback. “We want to be able to provide a nice environment for everyone who comes by,” VanderLinden said.
See Thursday's Daily Messenger for an extended story on the business.
