What’s going on

Those driving down Ontario Street in the city of Canandaigua may have noticed some activity in the old train station at the corner of Pleasant Street. Built in 1890, the spot is now Freedom Station, a Latin-flavored nightclub owned and operated by Camilla VanderLinden, Alberto Tabares and Jose Ruiz. Though the grand opening was Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, normal club operating days will be Thursday through Sunday, starting at 9 p.m., with a $5 cover charge. Each night will feature a different DJ, and in the coming weeks, Freedom Station will offer dance lessons several times a week before opening hours.
